Thoughts from Dubai

And so, my dear reader, the journey has begun!

I have spent a miserable 13 hours in a packed flight with little to quell my restless feet, and now find myself in a wonderful hotel in Dubai. Being vegan is not bad here -- my grandfather booked the flight and requested vegan meals for me. Most of the time it was really good food, though sometimes it was just a sandwich with slabs of vegetables in between. Here at the hotel, everything is labeled if it's vegetarian, and I do my best to discern whether or not it's vegan (meaning no dairy either!). Here we shall wait until our next flight, to the actual destination: Kerala!

I was thinking about some blog updates to give and was wondering if you might be interested in a Genius-like breakdown of some song lyrics. I would love to wax a little about my creative endeavors! Leave me a comment and I can know better what you might like to know about.

Traveling is something I don't do often. It's hard to explain why. Maybe if I had grown up traveling more, I'd be more interested? It's like snowboarding. I just don't think about it, and it doesn't strike me as something I need to try. However, I feel a need to go on this trip, to visit Kerala. This is the place of my grandparents, and relatives I have never met. My family has always seemed so small in the USA! I want to go there and perhaps bring others back, one day. I will be pleased knowing I've done this. I would regret not going more than going.

The jet lag isn't too bad. I wonder if it will be worse when we get to Kochi. I'm excited to sleep, at night.

Dubai is serene. The sunset is dusky, hazy, the sand dunes coloring it orange, brown, yellow. I'm excited to visit it some more on the layover back!
